01 2006 WTD
William
Tell Day, August 1st. Already last Saturday the Swiss
Federal Council Mr. Pascal Couchepin was reported by eyewitnesses (families Zwicky and Heimo)
having managed it to
Ellis Island in order to suck up to the Swiss expatriates with
a State of the union speech. We as real Swiss-Americans (Nadja, Marco, Connie & Eleonora) celebrated the WTD not two days early, but -
adhering to standards - on the exact day on Tuesday, at a time when
in Switzerland this day was already over. It was also the hottest
day of this summer showing unbelievable 110 degrees Fahrenheit (which
is probably about 43 'Swiss' degrees Celsius). 'Rooftop Fifth Avenue'
is a bar on top of one of the office buildings close by,
wonderful view to the Empire State Building,
lots of trendy people, rather importunate service and on a day like
this of course stiflingly hot. Little detail: On hot days like
these, you actually have to wear a sweater or a muffler in the
office since they are cooled down extremely. On the other hand,
waiting for the next train let's you sweat, since the
air-conditioned subway blows out the heat to the train station and
the tracks, which makes it really 'tingly'. On special demand
another picture of myself for optical weight control. Yes, I gained
six pounds! No, please do not tell me...! Happy William Tell Day to
all of you!
