November 2006 -
Lost in the Caribbean
Finally
on November 18, Peter picked
me up right from my class at the university. The next morning we
headed to the airport
and flew south to San
Juan and St.Kitts. There we boarded
the
Caribbean Explorer II, and sailed
around beautiful islands
(St.Kitts-St.Eustacia-Saba-St.Maarten). Five dives
a day is really tough - we enjoyed
once more very relaxing but
also exhausting vacations.
Compared to the Red Sea or the Maledives the
underwater world is not breath-taking (which is not really bad
below the surface ) but still very beautiful, much "small fish",
huge lobsters and crabs and impressive
Barracudas.
During one of the night dives Peter's camera just floated away
with the 'pictures of the century' which will maybe help now a
poor Caribbean fisherman to win the photo prize
of the year. Back home
we dove into a
Christmassy NYC with all the busy people shopping and we
prepared for another time
of 'separation'.
Tip to all our friends: There is really no danger
when visiting us, since the mandatory slide shows "Sabine and the
300 fish" will this year probably take place somewhere in a
fishing hut in St.Maartens.
